Double Award Winner!

Two Wins. One Project. One Unordinary Team.
We’re incredibly proud to share that Sugarloaf Restaurant at Flockhill was recognised with two awards last night at the 2025 Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects Canterbury Architecture Awards.
Sugarloaf at Flockhill
1. Interior Architecture - WINNER
2. Hospitality - WINNER
As Architects of the Unordinary, these awards are a powerful reflection of our team’s dedication to bold, thoughtful design that responds deeply to place, purpose, and the environment.
Designed to sit in quiet dialogue with its high-country surroundings, Sugarloaf strikes a fine balance between form, materiality, and context.
“From the monumental porte cochère to the quiet refinement of its interior moments, Sugarloaf is a space that invites stillness and sensory discovery,” said Lead Architect Ashton Wright. “We’re incredibly proud to see this project recognised at this level.”
The judging panel praised Sugarloaf for its "remarkable reflection of architectural excellence, offering guests a memorable dining experience in a stunning high-country retreat,” and described the restaurant as “a beautiful homage to Flockhill Station’s heritage, exemplifying architectural innovation in harmony with nature.”
This recognition is the result of true collaboration. A heartfelt thank you to our client Flock Hill Holdings, our outstanding consultants, and every individual who helped bring this vision to life. These awards are a shared success, one we’re truly honoured to celebrate.
